Sikkim is the second smallest state in India and is wedged between Tibet,Nepal, and West Bengal but encompasses an astounding range of pristine natural beauty of the Himalayas.

In this series of blogs we will be talking about the Bests from Sikkim. In today's blog we will be talking about the top 3 waterfalls from Sikkim. So let's start

1. Kanchenjunga Falls

It is believed that the pristine waterfall originates high up in the glaciers of Mount Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest peak in the world. It gushes down from a height of 100 feet into a pool. Kanchenjunga falls was not known to people and remained untouched till the 90s. It only came into the limelight, when a local tour operator named Topjor Bhutia accidentally discovered it. Today this spot become one of the leading tourist spots in West Sikkim.

Noted for its mesmerizing beauty and grandeur, the Kanchenjunga falls near Pelling serves as a perfect picnic spot to be traveled with family or friends. For the convenience of visitors, certain infrastructural changes have been made at the very spot.

Being a perennial waterfall, Kanchenjunga Fall can be visited anytime. However, the best time to visit the fall is after the monsoon season.

2. Banjhakari Waterfalls

Banjhakri falls is a remarkable touristy spot in Sikkim. There is very popular story behind this spot and its name. The word "Banjhakri" means woodland shaman, now if we separate it further "Boycott" implies primitive and "Jhakri" implies shaman. Shaman is a priest among specific people of northern Asia, viewed as one with recuperating and supernatural forces who can impact the spirits and achieve good and evil. Furthermore, it is these Shamanistic practices that are delineated by means of the dolls in this amusement park. Some of these portray customs, some recuperating ceremonies and others the start process in the life of a shaman. All these are entirely fascinating as is the waterfall that thunders down from a height of say 70 feet. Few facilities have been built for the visitors to go closer to the waterfall and take a shower. This a ideal place for kids to enjoy and is also best for family hangouts

After the end of the monsoon season, the best period to visit the Banjhakri falls is between October and February as the atmosphere is good between this period and nice too.
3.Rimbi Water Falls
Situated near Darap Village, it is one of the famous waterfalls in Pelling and among the best places of sightseeing in Pelling.
On the way to Khecheopalri Lake and Yuksam, Rimbi waterfall is formed over Rimbi River. During summer, the waterfall looks spectacular which attracts many tourists. Located close to the waterfall is one of the oldest hydro power stations in Sikkim. Established in the early 70's, this power station is the source of energy for most of the villa towns of West Sikkim including Gayzing, Tigjuck and Pelling.
The waterfall turns into Rimbi River, which is frequented by locals and tourists for various recreational activities like swimming and fishing.

Both summer and winter are perfect for enjoying Rimbi. It is during monsoon, that the water flow is heavy and is suggested that not to venture into the fall.
